2009 Men's Soccer Schedule

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University men's soccer team will host nine games at Lessing Field, plus has been designated as the host for the 2009 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference as head coach Carl Rees announced this year's schedule.

The Stags open the 2009 campaign by hosting two games over Labor Day weekend. Fairfield battles Monmouth University on Friday, September 4, followed by Towson University on Sunday, September 6. The team will play Towson for the third straight season in non-conference play, taking on the Tigers in the 2006 NCAA tournament second round and in a regular-season road game last season.

Fairfield takes to the road on September 13 when it heads north for a match up with the University at Albany, just two days before taking on Boston College on September 15. The Eagles advanced to the NCAA tournament second round last season. The program plays its second straight NCAA tournament team on September 19 when it hosts Harvard University at Lessing Field.

Coach Rees takes his team on the road for four of the next five games, beginning with trips to Northeastern University (September 22) and St. Francis N.Y. (September 26). After a home outing with New Hampshire on September 30, Fairfield opens MAAC play with away games against Marist College (October 9) and Siena College (October 11).

The Stags finish up the season with five home games over the last seven dates, which includes a three-game home stand against Iona College (October 17), Saint Peter's College (October 23), and Manhattan College (October 25). After going south for match ups with Rider University (October 30) and Loyola College (November 1), Fairfield finishes the regular season by hosting Niagara University (November 6) and Canisius College (November 8).

Fairfield University has been designated as the host school for the 2009 MAAC tournament, as the top four teams in the final regular-season standings will advance to the two-day tournament. The semi-finals take place on November 13, while the championship game is slated for November 15.
