Box Score

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Simba Aberdeen scored the game's only goal in the 98th minute to lift Canisius College to a 1-0 win over Fairfield University, the first of two games for the Stags in upstate New York.

Every Fairfield starter had at least one shot at the goal in the game, giving the Stags a shot advantage throughout the contest. After outshooting the Griffs by a 7-4 count in the first half, Fairfield more than doubled the home team's total in the second 45 minutes (11 to 5). Both teams managed two shots in the first overtime, but it was Canisius' second shot that proved to be the difference.

Nkosi Aberdeen started the scoring opportunity with a through ball to the right side of the box, which went to Simba Aberdeen. He released a shot from the right and beat Fairfield goalkeeper Jon Paul Francini to the lower corner, ending the game eight minutes into the first overtime.

Francini and Matt Houghton each made five saves in the game, with both players making three saves in the first half and two in the second half.

The Fairfield road trip continues on Sunday when the Stags take on Niagara University at 1 pm.
