FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Representatives from the Big East and the Ivy League will be on the 2006 Fairfield University men's soccer schedule, as the Stags will play in two tournaments in addition to another challenging slate of non-conference and conference opponents.
The 19-game schedule begins with the West Virginia Tournament on August 25 and 27, which includes a game against the host school as well as the University of Pittsburgh. The Stags travel to upstate New York for the Hartwick tournament on September 1 and 3. Fairfield opens the tourney against Cornell, and follows up with the host two days later.
The road trip comes to an end after a September 9 date with Adelphi and a September 16 match up with Columbia. Fairfield plays the first of four straight home games on September 20 against the University of Hartford, one of two games against Connecticut foes. The four-game homestand also includes Dartmouth College (September 26), Siena College (September 29), and Marist College (October 1).
Four of the next five games are on the road, starting with Yale University on October 4. A home date with Harvard University on October 9 is wrapped around road games against Yale and Iona as well as Manhattan and Saint Peter's. The team's final two home games are in late October as the Stags host Loyola College and Rider University on October 20 and 22, respectively.
The regular season comes to an end when Fairfield heads back to upstate New York for conference games against Canisius (October 27) and Niagara (October 29). Fairfield University will host the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tournament on November 3 and 5 at Lessing Field.
