FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- More than 30 former student-athletes returned to the Fairfield University campus for the annual red-white alumni game on May 12. The event included a 90-minute game, and a reception for the soccer alums.
The alumni were split into two teams and played each other that afternoon. The white team walked away with a 5-2 victory, thanks to a strong effort by Richard Morton. A member of the class of 2003, Morton tallied three goals in the 12th, 49th, and 67th minute. Rob Miller '06 scored twice as well, finding the back of the goal in the 27th and 74th minute.
The white team scored a pair of goals, one in each half of the game. Aaron Kingi '01 put the squad on the scoreboard in the 38th minute, while Sebastain Wojdaszka '00 finished up the day with a goal in the 88th minute.
Morton was named the game's most valuable player, while Tom Madden '84 was honored with the Rollin' Back The Years Award for his years of dedication to the program.
"We are very fortunate to have a group of former student-athletes who keep in contact with us and have a continued interest in our program," Head Coach Carl Rees said. "The day was very successful in that it created a link from our past to the present and future of our program."
