FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Senior Vasilis Androutsos (Toronto, Ont.) and sophomore Sam Bailey (Cheshire, England) earned a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-New England team for their outstanding play during the 2005 season. Androutsos received a berth to the first team, while Bailey garnered a third-team selection.

Androutsos led the team in scoring with 28 total points, registering 11 goals with six assists. He also paced the offense with four game-winning scores during the season. His 28 points was just one shy of the school single-season record, but did raise his career total to 51 points. He finished his four-year career ranked third on the Fairfield University point list, while his 18 goals placed second all-time and his 15 assists tied him for third all-time. The forward capped his season with All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) honors for the fourth time, two as a midfielder and two as a forward.

Bailey ended the 2005 campaign with 19 total points, second only to Androutsos' total. The midfielder netted seven goals with five assists, which included three game-winning goals. Bailey scored a point in 11 of the team's 20 games, and tallied two or more points in seven outings. He should move into several Fairfield career and season leader lists next season, recording 10 goals and eight assists through his first two seasons. Bailey was selected to the All-MAAC team following the 2005 campaign.

The Fairfield University men's soccer team, under head coach Carl Rees, captured the 2005 MAAC regular-season championship and advanced to the conference tournament final. The squad was ranked in the NSCAA national rankings throughout the season, reaching as high as number 20 in the poll. The Stags ended their season with a 13-4-3 overall record and an unbeaten 8-0-1 mark in conference play.
