Stags Compete at Quinnipiac Invitational

HAMDEN, Conn. - Sophomore Ryan Berthod (White Plains, N.Y.) and rookie Rob Ferrante (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) advanced to the semifinals of their respective flights to highlight Fairfield's competition at the Quinnipiac Invitational.

In Flight A, Berthod defeated Sacred Heart's Michael Syer, 6-2, 6-2, and Bucknell's Ryan Sandburg, 6-2, 2-6, 10-6, to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinals, Berthod was edged by Quinnipiac's John Hughes, 6-2, 7-5.

In Flight B, Ferrante edged Sacred Heart's Chris McDonnell, 6-4, 6-2, and Boston University's Charles Weinstein, 7-5, 6-2, to head to the semifinals. In the semifinals, Ferrante fell to Rhode Island's Jeff Cote, 6-4, 6-3.

Junior Chris Bane (Manchester, Mass.) earned a first round win in Flight D with a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Sacred Heart's John Harvey.

Fairfield is back in action this weekend when it heads to the ITA Regionals.
