FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield University men's tennis head coach Ed Paige announced that Dan Sauter (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) and Joe Michalisin (Melville, N.Y./St. Anthony's) have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Stags in the fall of 2008.

"We are pleased that we welcome both Dan and Joe to Fairfield University and to the men's tennis program," said Paige. "Not only are they accomplished players with excellent Eastern and national results, but bright and personable young men. They not only will be valuable additions to the tennis team but to the university community as well."

Sauter enters his senior year at Don Bosco Prep as the seventh-ranked singles player in New Jersey. A three-time team MVP, Sauter has played first singles his entire career, earning a record of 55-9. He is also ranked 28th among the Boys 18-under USTA Eastern Section ratings.

Michalsin is a two-time defending Catholic singles champion for St. Anthony's. The two-time team MVP was the runner-up in the singles championship as a freshman. He is also ranked 12th among the Boys 18-under USTA Eastern Section ratings.

Fairfield finished the 2006-07 campaign with a 13-10 overall mark, setting the program record for wins. The Stags also notched a fourth place finish at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships.

After a successful fall season, which included a share of its third-straight ECAC Open Championship title, the Stags are off until January. Fairfield opens the second half of its schedule on Jan. 26 against Hartford.
