FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield University's Balazs Szikla (Budapest, Hungary) and Gabriela Davila (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) were named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, after solid performances during the Stags' Spring Break trip to Florida.

Szikla went 3-1 in singles play during the week and posted a 2-2 mark in doubles action. Against 25th-ranked Carthage College, the junior earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over J.T. Delk, one of only two singles victories for Fairfield that day. Szikla has gone 7-3 during his last ten singles matches, including four of his last five. On the season Szikla is 9-4 in singles play and 9-9 in doubles action.

Davila went a perfect 4-0 during singles play last week while going 2-2 in doubles action. The sophomore has gone 7-3 in her last ten singles matches and is 9-3 overall this year. She is also 9-7 in doubles matches.

Both teams have notched a 5-3 record so far this season and are back in action on March 22. The men will play its first home match of the season on Thursday, hosting Boston University at 3 p.m. while the women will travel to Fordham University for a 2:30 p.m. start.
