Women's Basketball Set To Host Boston College At Arena Tuesday Night
Dec 10, 2007
The Fairfield University women’s basketball team (game notes) plays its third game in five days as it hosts Boston College, a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, at the Arena at Harbor Yard. Fairfield enters the game at 6-3 having lost back-to-back games and three of its last four. Boston College is 7-2 on the season and comes into the contest riding a five-game winning streak.
Fairfield and Boston College are meeting for the seventh time in the series history, dating back to the 1980-81 season. The Stags hold a 4-0 edge in the series, despite losing each of the last two meetings. Last season, despite a furious second half rally, the Stags were turned away 64-58 at Conte Forum. The Eagles won their first meeting of the series 74-55 at the Arena at Harbor Yard on November 16, 2001. The last Fairfield win was at Conte Forum Dec. 30, 2000, 89-84, when the Eagles were nationally ranked. The Stags earned the first win 53-51, before defeating the Eagles in the championship game of the Warner Classic in 1983-84 and 1988-89.
Fairfield is the third MAAC school to take on an ACC foe this season, and the only team to host the game. Loyola lost 98-50 to Maryland on Nov. 20, while Siena fell 77-67 to Clemson at the Coors Classic. The MAAC is 41-30 in non-conference play this season.
The game versus Boston College, like all Fairfield home men’s and women’s basketball games can be watched live via the B2 Networks. Fans can purchase a single-game viewership, or a season pass, by clicking here. The play-by-play is provided by the Stags radio voices; John Cummings and Maria Conlon.
When finals end the Stags will complete their three-game
homestand, hosting St. Francis (NY) at Alumni Hall. That
game, to be played Saturday, Dec. 22, will tip-off at 1 p.m.
