
Sabra Wrice Named MAAC Women's Basketball Player Of The Week

Wrice (Riverside, N.J.) was named the Metro Atlantic
Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week, announced Monday
afternoon. It is the first honor of the year for Wrice, and
the team’s second of the season.
Wrice, a Riverside High School graduate, led the Stags with 24
points in the team’s 59-54 win over Boston College, of the
ACC, on Tuesday at the Arena at Harbor Yard. In the second
half, with the Eagles threatening to pull away, Wrice scored eight
straight points for the Stags to keep them in the game. In an
11-minute span in the middle of the second half, Wrice scored 11 of
13 and 15 of 21 points for the Stags as they took the lead.
She dished out three of her four assists in the closing minutes of
the game, two leading to the Stags taking a lead in the game, and
the third icing the contest in the final minutes of action.
In addition, Wrice finished the game with six rebounds and two
steals, playing 37 minutes.
The Stags guard is leading the team in scoring, averaging 17.1
points per game, which is good for third in the league. Wrice
has knocked down 23 three-pointers this season, tops on the team,
and is shooting 41 percent (68-166) from the field. She is
leading the team with 15 steals and ranks second on the team with
23 assists. Wrice is also averaging 3.8 rebounds per game and
has one blocked shot.
Wrice is among the all-time scoring leaders in the Stags history,
having scored 1,247 points, ranking 13th. She has played in
98 games over the course of her career with 82 starts, and has a
chance to finish among the program leaders in both of those
categories when her career is complete.
Wrice has led the Stags to a 7-3 start and will lead them back
into action on Saturday, Dec. 22, at Alumni Hall when they host St.
Francis (NY). The game is set for 1 p.m. and tickets are
