Women's Basketball Looks For Third Straight Win Against Troy On Saturday

Dec 27, 2007

The Fairfield women's basketball team (game notes) will take on Troy University in the opening game of the Fordham Holiday Tournament, Sat., Dec. 29 at Rose Hill Gym.  The Stags, winners of two straight, enter the game at 8-3, while the Trojans are 6-5, having dropped back-to-back contests.

The host, Fordham (0-11), will begin tournament play at 1 p.m. as it hosts Mount St. Mary's (2-8).  The winners will meet on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the championship game, with the consolation tipping off at 1 p.m. Fans can follow all four games of the tournament via the internet at the Fordham tournament central provided by the Rams sports information staff.

As always, both of the Stags games will be broadcast by John Cummings and Maria Conlon on WVOF, 88.5 FM over the air or via internet stream.

Fairfield is 2-0 in tournament play this season, having defeated Cal-Poly and North Dakota State in November, to capture the Cal-Poly Holiday Classic.  Sabra Wrice was named the MVP of that tournament.  The Stags are 3-1 in non-conference road games this season and are 1-0 in neutral site contests.
