Jan 11, 2008

The Fairfield University women's basketball (game notes) team will play the final game of a season-long five-game road trip on Saturday at Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Niagara University.  The 2 p.m. game can be watched on line via the B2 Networks feed from both Niagara and Fairfield, as well as being on WVOF 88.5 FM and the internet.

The Stags have lost back-to-back games and enter the contest with a 10-5 overall record and at 0-4 in league play.  Fairfeld has lost five straight MAAC regular season games dating back to the season finale last year at Marist.

Stephanie Geehan had an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double in the Stags loss at Canisius on Thursday.  Sabra Wrice continues to lead the team in scoring after dumping in 16 points against the Griffs.

Fairfield has now lost the first game of its annual Western New York swing eight times in the program's history.  The Stags record in the second game is 4-3, with two of those wins have come after losing to the Griffs and defeating the Purple Eagles.

Niagara is 3-12 on the year and 1-3 in MAAC play entering the contest, having lost to Iona on Thursday evening.  The Purple Eagles have dropped six straight games and 12 of 13 since opening the year with back-to-back wins.

The Stags return home on Friday, Jan.18 to host Rider at Alumni Hall at 7 p.m.  That game begins a stretch of eight out of 10 that Fairfield will play at home.
