Stags Host Saint Peter's On Senior Day
Feb 17, 2008
The Fairfield University women's basketball team plays its final home game of the 2007-08 season on Monday, hosting Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Saint Peter's. The game, at the Arena at Harbor Yard, will tip-off at 5:04 p.m. with a ceremony honoring the Stags seniors; Stephanie Cziria, Meka Werts and Sabra Wrice, beginning 15 minutes prior to tip-off.
The Stags have won back-to-back games, and eight of the last 10, to improve to 18-7 overall and 8-6 in league play. A Fairfield win in any of their last four games clinches a bye into the quarterfinals of the upcoming MAAC Tournament. The Peahens are 17-8 on the year and 9-5 in conference action, tied with Manhattan, one-game ahead of the fifth-place Stags in the MAAC standings.
Cziria, who has scored 330 points in her career, played in the 100th game of her career in the Stags win over Siena on Saturday. Werts, who led the team in scoring in that game with 12 points, became the seventh player in program history to connect on 100 career three-point field goals, and enters tonight's game with 101. Wrice, who is among the program's best in several categories, and needs just eight points to reach 1,500 for her Fairfield career.
Fairfield closes out the regular season with three road games, beginning on Friday, Feb. 22 at Manhattan.
