Women's Basketball Heads To Manhattan Wednesday Night
Feb 26, 2008
The Fairfield University women's basketball team (game notes) travels to Riverdale, N.Y. on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. meeting with Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Manhattan College. The Stags enter the game at 19-8 overall and 9-7 in league play, while the Jaspers are 14-13 overall and also 9-7 in conference action.
The winner of the contest will be alone in at least fourth place in the league, and could move into a third-place tie depending on the outcome of the game between Marist and Saint Peter's.
When the two teams met at the Arena at Harbor Yard 17 days ago, Baendu Lowenthal scored 18 points, on 9-10 shooting, and led the Stags to a 71-66 victory. Lowenthal, the MAAC co-player of the week after averaging 23.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in two games last week, is among the top-five in the MAAC in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage.
The game will be preceded by a Senior Day ceremony for the Manhattan senior class. It marks the third straight game that the Stags have participated in a team's Senior Day event.
Fans can listen live on WVOF 88.5 FM as John Cummings and Cara Murphy provide the play-by-play.
