Women's Basketball Sees Hopes Of Postseason Play Dashed

Mar 17, 2008

The Fairfield University women’s basketball team did not have its hope of receiving an at-large bid to the 2008 Women’s National Invitational Championship (WNIT) realized on Monday night, as the field of 48 teams was announced without the Stags.

“We are obviously disappointed that we were not selected to play in the WNIT,” said head coach Joe Frager.  “I felt that the season we had was worthy of an opportunity for postseason play, but we will use this as a motivating factor as we head into our off-season.”

Fairfield posted a 22-9 mark, the seventh 20-win season in the program’s Division I history, and the first since a program record 25-6 mark in 2000-01.
