Lowenthal Named Second Team All-Met By MBWA

Fairfield University senior Baendu Lowenthal (Riverside, N.J.) was named Second Team All-Met by the Met Writers Basketball Association at the annual Haggerty Awards Dinner at the Giants Stadium Club.  The graduating forward is the 13th player to be honored by the MWBA and the second Stag in as many years.

Lowenthal was the Stags leading scorer this season, averaging 15.9 points per game.  Her 494 points was the 10th best single-season effort in the history of the program.  She was second on the team with her 7.6 rebounds a game, as well as dishing out 64 assists.  Lowenthal had 27 steals and 21 blocked shots as she started all 31 games for the Stags, who went 18-13.

For the fourth post-season Lowenthal was recognized by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) head coaches, being named All-MAAC First Team this season.  She was named Second Team All-MAAC after her sophomore and junior years and was voted to the MAAC All-Rookie Team following the 2005-06 season.

Lowenthal completed her Fairfield as only the fourth player to score over 1,500 points and have over 800 career rebounds.  She leaves 10th in program history with 1,517 points and fifth on the career rebound list with 808. Lowenthal played 120 games, starting 118 of those contests, the second most all-time in both lists.  Additionally, Lowenthal also leaves the program seventh all-time with 613 made field goals.
