WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Four Fairfield boats competed against the United States Military Academy and Sacred Heart University in a tri-meet on April 5. The second novice 8+ picked up the team's only win of the day, beating the runner-up by 34 seconds.

The winning shell consisted of coxswain Sandra Wrinn, Heidi Ochab, Mariel Kauffman, Katherine Poniatowski, Kristine Wilson, Katherine Healy, Ellen Dunleavy, Danielle Padilla and Erin Daly. The team crossed the line with of time of 7:12.7, a significant difference over second-place Army (7:46.2).

The first novice (6:20.9) secured second place in their race, between winner Army (6:24.8) and Sacred Heart (7:08.1). The team included coxswain Carolyn Brayfield, Angela Fain, Nicole Blyth, Jennifer White, Bethan Hemingway, Maureen Sullivan, Robyn Raber, Katherine Topazio and Melissa Maggio.

The varsity 8 grabbed second place behing Army (6:37.3), thanks to strong performances by coxswain Katie Molteni, Caitlin Bakum, Katie Gill, Kathleen Bradler, Andrea Bazos, Maura O'Connor, Carolyn Arnold, Katie Jonaitis, Carolyn Stankiewicz. The varsity 8 finished the race with a time of 7:02.6.

Coxwain Samantha Lombardi, Katie Gill, Kathleen Bradler, Caitlin Bakum and Andrea Bazos posted a time of 6:43.9 in the varsity 4+, second to Army (6:23.7) but ahead of Sacred Heart (7:23.0).
