WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- The Fairfield University novice 4+ captured the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) first-place medal by defeating three other schools at the conference's women's rowing championship. The Stags scored 100 total points to finish fourth overall at the annual event.

Led by coxswain Amanda Bennette, the novice 4+ crossed the finish line in 8:16.7, nearly six seconds better than runner up Marist College. The boat consisted of Jessica Braveman, Liz Ulles, Mary Crowlsy, and Linday McGrail.

The novice 8 secured a second-place finish in its event, as its time of 7:30.0 was just five seconds off the winning pace of Loyola. Lindy McGrail, Mary Crowley, Liz Ulles, Lindsay Ryan, Liz Reilly, Jessica Braveman, Christina DiCioccio, Sam Rosen, and coxswain Bennette.

The varsity 4, comprised of Cecelia Oliverio, Emily Green, Kelly Reynolds, Nancy Sidnam, and coxswain Andrea Janson, took fourth place with a time of 8:17.7. The women's junior varsity 4+ was third after Loyola and Marist, finishing the race in 8:21.4. The JV shell incuded Mallory Reimers, Amanda Klecker, Sara LaFouci, Becca Bowes, and coxswain DAria Anuszkiewicz.

In the team's final event of the day, the varsity 8 completed the competition with a fourth-place finish, crossing the line in 7:47.96. Marist won the event (7:02.96), followed by Loyola (7:28.46), and Iona (7:39.36). The Stags' entry included Daria Anuszkiewicz, Nancy Sidnam, Sam Rosen, Liz Reilly, Kelly Reynolds, Emily Green, Lindsay Ryan, Christina DiCioccio, and Cecelia Oliverio.

The rowing team returns to action on April 29 when it competes in the New York Metropolitan Championships at Pelham Bay, N.Y.
