NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The Fairfield University women's crew team finished third in the team standings at the 2004 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rowing championships. The Stags placed second in individual events, namely the pair, lightweight four and second varsity eight.

The day started with the women's varsity four securing third place in its event with a time of 8:05.4, behind the efforts of coxswain Sandy Wrinn, Jen White, Beth Hemingway, Christine Opiela and Katie Gill. Marist College edged out the women's second varsity eight by less than two seconds, as the Stags crossed the line in 7:54.9. The second varsity eight boat included coxswain Katie Molteni, Maureen Sullivan, Erica Mullaney, Kate Chesny, Katy Healy, Mary Claire Finnen, Mariel Kauffman, Maura O'Connor and Erin Daly.

The lightweight 4 also garnered a runner-up medal with a time of 10:12.1, behind first-place finisher Loyola College. The Fairfield team consisted of coxswain Danielle McLean, Justine Rapoport, Chrissy Young, Christine Anglace and Thais Pagan. The women's novice 4 took sixth in its respective race with a time of 10:06.9. Coxswain Jessica Raymond, Katie Donahue, Emily Green, Brittany Teehan and Claire Meehan represented Fairfield in that race.

In pair action, Andrea Bazos and Mary Claire Finnen finished second to Loyola with a time of 10:11.0, just 12 seconds off the pace. The varsity lightweight crew, comprised of coxswain Katie Molteni, Amy Ferguson, Erica Mullaney, Maura O'Connor and Erin Daly, was second with a time of 9:15.9 behind Loyola College.

The women's novice 8 race had two Fairfield entries, as the two shells took third and fourth place respectively. The A boat took third behind the efforts coxswain Thais Pagan, Katie Donahue, Emily Green, Brittany Teehan, Claire Meehan, Christine Anglace, Kylin Wentz, Justine Rapoport and Chrissy Young. The B boat was fourth with coxwain Danielle McLean, Jessica Raymond, Amanda Piel, Brittany Child, Lindsay Dewan, Gabby Dogali, Mari Heenan, Lisa Augustine and Jen Jemison in the boat.

The final event saw the Stags varsity 8 take third place with a time of 7:31.6. The varsity 8 team consisted of coxswain Katie Molteni, Jen White, Katie Gill, Maureen Sullivan, Christine Opiela, Mary Claire Finnen, Beth Hemingway, Amy Ferguson and Andrea Bazos.
