SARATOGA SRPINGS, N.Y. -- The lightweight four turned in a second-place performance at the Head of the Fish on Saturday, which highlighted a good day of competition for the Fairfield University women's rowing program. The varsity eight, the varsity four, the novice eight, and the novice four also competed during the day.
In the lightweight event, Fairfield crossed the finish line with a time of 14:05.97, just over a second off the University at Buffalo's winning time of 14:04.38. The Stags were represented by coxswain Daria Anuszkiewicz, Becca Bowes, Sam Rosen, Amanda Klecker, and Mallory Reimers. Fairfield finished ahead of UMass, Brandeis, Vermont, and Buffalo's B boat.
The varsity four finished its race with a time 13:55.79 behind a strong finish from coxswain Meaghan Young, Lindy McGrail, Mary Crowley, Liz Ulles, and Jess Braveman. The varsity eight also enjoyed a solid effort from coxswain Daria Anuszkiewicz, Lindy McGrail, Mary Crowley, Jessica Rogan, Sara LaFauci, Lindsay Ryan, Christina DiCioccio, and Liz Ulles. The shell crossed the finish line 16th in 12:55.86.
The novice eight took 18th place in its race with a time of 14:18.45. Coxswain Meghan Young, Emily Petrou, Karisten Strong, Caitlin Gallaher, Ruby Mateo, Lauren Lipyanka, Alysse Merullo, Mary McGrath, and Christina Putts comprised the team. The novice four also secured the 18th position at the meet, finishing the race in 15:17.36. The team included coxswain Shannon Ugarte, Lauren Lipyanka, Courtney McCord, Greisy Sanchez, and Mary McGrath.
