MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The varsity, lightweight and novice 8 shells were in action at the Head of the Connecticut on October 13. The varsity team secured an eighth place finish in a field of 32 entries.

The varsity 8 crossed the finish line with a time of 19:14.94, behind Brown University's first-place finish (18:28.92). The Stags entry included coxswain Samantha Lombardi, stroke Caitlin Bakum, Kathleen Bradler, Erin Schuling, Katie Gill, Mary Finnen, Andrea Bazos, Heidi Bentsen and bow Sarah Bachman.

The lightweight 8 also competed in the race, and crossed the line in 20:58.74. The team was comprised by coxswain Katie Molteni, stroke Amy Ferguson, Caroly Stankiewicz, Katy Jonaitis, Carolyn Arnold, Maura O'Connor, Marjorie Powers, Alyssa Aurisy and bow Sandi Wrinn.

Fairfield finished the day with the novice 8 race, as the Stags (22:00.63) took 10th behind the efforts of coxswain Samantha Lombardi, stroke Angela Lively, Bethan Hemingway, Jennifer White, Ellen Dunleavy, Katy Healy, Robyn Raber, Heidi Ochab and bow Jillian Ryan. The race was won by Northeastern University's B boat with a time of 18:30.7.
