Fairfield, Conn. -- Caitlin Bakum (Saybrook Conn.), Elizabeth Strain (Portland, Ore.) and Aimee Wagner (Mahwah, N.J.) received recognition from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, as the annual All-Academic team was announced. A total of 36 student-athletes earned the honor this year.

Bakum, a management major, has been an instrumental part of the varsity 4+ this season, helping the boat finish among the top three in several events this season. Strain, an accounting major, contributed to the varsity 8 this year, which won the MAAC gold medal on April 29. Wagner, a biology major, rowed as a member of the varsity 8 "B" boat this year. Both Strain and Wagner are repeat MAAC All-Academic award winners.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution, be a significant starter or reserve and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.

The Stags placed second in the MAAC championships this year, under the guidance of head coach Andre Albert. Fairfield will close the season by rowing at the Dad Vails in Philadelphia on May 10-12.
