FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- With one event left on the schedule, the women's crew gathered to look back on the 2003-04 season and honor the team's seniors. The team's annual awards banquet took place on May 2.

Head Coach Andre Albert and assistant coach Katie Remley honored the senior class, which leaves Fairfield with a great deal of accomplishment. The class of 2004 included Andrea Bazos (Longmeadow, Mass.), Amy Ferguson (E. Amherst, N.Y.), Mary Claire Finnen (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.), Katie Gill (Abington, Mass.), Maura O'Connor (Roxbury, Mass.) and Christine Opiela (Charlottesville, Va.).

Gill and O'Connor both served as captains during their four-year tenure. O'Connor and Finnen are both Fullbright Scholarship nominees. Bazos, Finnen, Gill and O'Connor are also MAAC All-Academic award recipients.

"Each member of our senior class made significant contributions to our program," Head Coach Andre Albert said. "I am proud of their accomplishments both on the water and in the class room. This is a special group of student athletes and they will be missed."

Coach Albert also made announced the team individual awards at the banquet. He presented Brittany Teehan with the Stags Rookie of the Year award. The Coach's Award, given to a student-athlete who has made significant contributions to the program both athletically and academically, went to senior Maura O'Connor. The Marguerite O'Meara Award was presented to Mary Claire Finnen for her contribution and dedication to the Fairfield University crew program.

The team finishes up the 2003-04 season with the Dad Vails in Philadelphia, Pa. The three-day event begins on May 6.
