2006 Season: Smith emerged as a viable option for the Stags coaching staff, a premise proven by her 16 appearances during the season. The forward earned two starts as a rookie, receiving the nod against Holy Cross and Monmouth. She came off the bench for her first eight appearances before the Holy Cross game. She missed only three games as a freshman - Rider, Columbia, and Robert Morris. Smith provided the team with solid play both up front and in the midfield, making a valuable role player. Her stick skills and quickness may help her gain more quality minutes.
Before Fairfield: Smith earned four varsity letters at Granby Memorial High School as a field hockey player. She earned co-most valuable player awards in 2005, as well as All-Conference honors. She captured her second All-State first team award following her senior campaign. During her time at Granby Memorial, Smith helped the team capture three conference championships and two state titles. She participated in the National Futures Tournament during the 2004, 2005, and 2006 seasons. She also played four years with the varsity softball team. Off the field, Smith was a member of the National Honor Society.
