McCullough, Piacquadio Earn America East All-Conference Honors

Nov 5, 2007

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Carly McCullough and Jill Piacquadio received recognition for their play during the 2007 field hockey season, as both student athletes earned spots on America East's post-season teams. The America East All-Conference teams were selected by vote of the conference's head coaches.

McCullough was honored twice for her achievement both on and off the field. The midfielder was named to the All-Conference second team, as well as the All-Academic team. She scored one goal during the season, which was the game winner in a 3-2 victory against St. Francis. McCullough appeared in 19 games and started 17 of those contests.

Piacquadio picked up a spot on the All-Rookie team, one of 11 players honored in the six-team conference. She made her mark on the program in just her fourth game as a member of the Stags. The sophomore tallied the game's only goal in a victory over Saint Joseph's, giving Fairfield its first win of the season. The forward played in all 20 games and started eight of those contests.

The field hockey team, under head coach Jackie Kane, completed its first season in America East after spending the last few seasons as a member of the Northeast Conference.
