DURHAM, N.H. -- The Fairfield University field hockey team surrendered two goals in a five-minute span midway through the first half, as the University of New Hampshire posted a 2-0 win over the Stags in an America East contest.

Brooke Bercari put the Wildcats in the lead with a goal in the 17th minute, scoring the goal off a penalty corner. Bercari set up the game's second goal when she sent a long pass into the circle, which Shauna Sellenger redirected past Fairfield goalkeeper Liz Thomas to make the score 2-0 in the 22nd minute.

The home team outshot the Stags by an 18-6 count, but Fairfield posted four of its shots in the second half. Thomas made eight saves in the Stags' net, five of which came in the first half. Margaux Shute posted five saves for New Hampshire, including three in the second half.

Fairfield plays its final non-conference game of the 2007 campaign when it travels to Rider University on October 25. The Stags finish up the regular season on October 27 when they host the University of Maine in an America East game.
