First Half Goal Results In 1-0 Setback For Stags

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Senior goalkeeper Liz Thomas posted 10 saves in a 1-0 setback to Quinnpiac University this afternoon. Thomas registered 10 or more saves for the seventh time this season, and entered the game ranked among the nation's top 10 goaltenders for saves per game.

The Bobcats netted the game's only goal with just under six minutes remaining in the first half. Christine Grady brought the ball into the circle and made a cut to the left side. With her back to goal, Grady bankhanded a shot go from eight feet away that just caught the far-side corner of the net.

Quinnipiac out shot the Stags by a 10-1 count in the first half, and enjoyed an 8-1 advantage in penalty corners. Fairfield turned things around in the second half, holding a 12-6 edge in shots and a 9-4 advantage in penalty corners.

The Stags return to action on October 20 when they travel to the University of New Hampshire for an America East game. Game time is slated for 1 pm.
