BOSTON, MASS. -- The Fairfield University field hockey team opened the 2006 season on the road, and returned with a 4-0 setback to Boston University. The Terriers scored two goals in the first half, and followed with another pair in the second half.

Sarah Shute put the Terriers in front with a goal at the 21-minute mark, beating goaltender Elizabeth Thomas from five yards away. Two minutes later, the advantage doubled to 2-0 after Lauren Alfaro converted a pass from Shute. Shute collected a rebound and sent a pass to the far post, which found Alfaro open.

The Terriers raised the deficit to three goals when Suus Dekker was awarded a penalty stroke. Hadley Adams finished off the scoring with a goal from seven yards out, giving the team a 4-0 lead.

Boston University outshot the Stags by a 19-1 count, with Amanda Love registering the only Fairfield shot.
