PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Fairfield University field hockey team returned to the road for a match up with Ivy League foe Brown University, and came home with a 2-0 setback in non-conference play. Stags goaltender Elizabeth Thomas made 12 saves in 70 minutes of work, facing 21 shots from the Bears.
Brown opened the scoring 10 minutes into the contest when Ani Kazarian sent a pass over to Stacy Guliotta, who shot the ball past Thomas for her fourth goal of the season. The Bears doubled their advantage nine minutes later when Samantha Lloyd picked up an unassisted goal.
Thomas played well throughout the game, making six saves in each half. The performance marked the third time that the junior has made 12 saves in a game. She raised her season total to 85 saves, averaging just over seven stops per contest.
Fairfield returns to action on Friday afternoon when it returns to Northeast Conference play against Siena College. Game time is slated for 4 pm.
