FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University field hockey team finished up the home portion of its 2006 schedule against Northeast Conference leader Lock Haven University. The Stags dropped the game by a 6-0 count at University Field with the visitors scoring three goals in each half.
Lock Haven opened the scoring quickly when Sarah Huber tallied a goal four minutes into the game. After Samantha Stoyer took a shot which was saved by Fairfield goaltender Elizabeth Thomas, Huber controlled the rebound and one-timed a shot past Thomas to the low, left corner.
Huber played a role in the next three goals, assisting Renee Kemmerer on the next goal and scoring the team's third and fourth goals on the day. Lock Haven netted two more goals in the second half when Mandy Daschbach converted a pass from Blair Wynne in the 40th minute. Wynne was on the receiving end 16 minutes later, finding the back of the net off passes from Jill Wessner and Alanna Lewis.
Thomas finished the game with eight saves, as Lock Haven outshot the Stags 19-7.
