FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Two Fairfield University field hockey players earned a berth to the Dita Challenge Cup All-Tournament team, as the squad was announced following the conclusion of the event on Saturday. Courtney O'Connor and Emily Janis received the recognition for their outstanding performance in the three-weekend event.
Fairfield hosted the championship and consolation games of the tournament on April 22. The Stags battled Sacred Heart University in the consolation game, falling to the Pioneers by a 5-1 score. Freshman Molly Byrnes scored Fairfield's goal, converting a cross from sophomore Briana Keene in the second half.
Hofstra University captured the Cup championship with a 2-0 win over runner-up Quinnipiac University.
