FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University field hockey team placed fourth in the seven-team Model Cup Challenge, a three-week tournament played at various campus sites throughout the Northeast. The Stags dropped a 3-1 decision to Quinnipiac University in the third-place game.
Two Fairfield University student-athletes were named to the All-Tournament team. Amy Hosking (Kunkletown, Pa.) and Emily Janis (East Hampton, N.Y.) earned the honor after their performance in the event.
The Model Cup Challenge finished the Stags spring schedule. The Stags make the move to America East this Fall after spending the last three seasons as an associate member of the Northeast Conference (NEC). Head Coach Jackie Kane led her program to two NEC tournament appearances, including a spot in the 2004 championship game.
