FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Wendy Carbone (Derry, N.H.) captured the Northeast Conference (NEC) Field Hockey Rookie of the Week award after putting forth a strong defensive effort in a 1-0 loss to Drexel University last week. Carbone won the award for the first time in her career.

The defender started the game against the Dragons, the second start of her career. She made a defensive save in the game, which kept Fairfield within striking distance of Drexel. Carbone has played in all five games so far this season, coming off the bench in the first three contests before earning a spot in the starting lineup.

The Fairfield University field hockey team, under head coach Jackie Kane, owns a 1-4 overall record. The Stags begin a three-game home stand by hosting Hofstra University on September 14, before opening the NEC portion of their schedule against Quinnipiac University on September 16.
