Fairfield freshman golfer Kristen MacDonald is the national leader in putts on greens in regulation, according to golfstat.com.  It marks the firs time a Stag has led the nation in a category in the program’s history.

“This is a great accomplishment for a freshman,” said head coach Len Roberto.  “For her to put up a number like this, and lead the nation, ahead of All-American’s from all of the top program’s is very impressive.”

MacDonald is averaging 1.741 putts on greens in regulation.  Second on the list is Adriana Zwanck, a junior from Arizona with a 1.746 average.  Other players on the list hail from USC, Auburn, Michigan State, a pair from Duke, Oklahoma State, BYU and Auburn.

The Stags will return to action on Friday and Saturday, as they play at the Mt. St. Mary’s Invitational in Maryland.
