
Women's Golf Fifth After First Round At CCSU Invitational

The Fairfield University women’s golf team shot a team 347
in the first round of the CCSU Spring Invitational, to place fifth
with one round to play on Sunday. The event is being played
at the par-73 Stanley Golf Course in New Britain, Conn.
Fairleigh Dickinson leads the team chase with a first-round
322. The Knights Michele Holzwarth and Eva Mayr are tied with
Central Connecticut’s Lucie Sarochova are tied for first,
with first round 79’s.
Courtney Richardson and Kristen MacDonald are the top-two Stags
finishers after the first round, both carding 86’s, in a tie
for 12th place. MacDonald shot 42-44, while Richardson, shot
43-43.
Christiana Destefano is tied for 17th, with a first round 87,
shooting 42-45. Alicia Espositio is a stroke back, in a 21st
place tie, shooting 44-44. Annie Sperandio rounded out the
Stags effort on Saturday, with a first round 90 (44-46), good for a
24th place tie.
The CCSU Spring Invitational will wrap up with 18-holes on
Sunday. The Stags then turn their attention to the Metro
Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship in Orlando, Fla.,
April 24-27.
