Women's Golf In Sixth Place After Day One Of CSU Invitational

The Fairfield University women's golf team shot a 335 +51 first round team score, and is in sixth place midway through the Charleston Southern Invitational.  The event is being played at the par-71 5,898-yard Coosaw Creek Country Club in Charleston, S.C.

Claire Rothschild is tied for 13th after the first round, carding an 80.  She shot 42 on the front-nine and rallied on the backside, with a 38.  Kristen MacDonald is next, tied for 26th after shooting a day-one 83.

Alicia Esposito is a stroke back of her teammate, in a 29th place tie, after shooting 84 on the first day of competition.  Christiana Destefano shot a first-round 88, finishing the day in a 39th place tie.  Caroline Hoey rounded out the Stags effort with a first-round 94, good for a 47th place tie.

The host, Charleston Southern is leading the 11-team event, shooting a +16, 300 on Monday.  Madison Jeter, of Charleston Southern, and Jessica Vincent, of Coastal Carolina, are tied for the individual lead with first-round scores of 72.

The event is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday.
