The Fairfield University women’s golf team moved up one spot in the second round to place fifth at the 2008 CSU Women’s Fall Classic on Tuesday. Fairfield shot 330 as a team in the second round, five strokes better than in the first round, and finished with a two-day score of 665, +97.

Alicia Esposito was the Stags top finisher, shooting a second-round 80 to finish in a 19th place tie.  She was four strokes better then her first round score and moved up 10 spots on Tuesday.  Claire Rothschild was the next finisher for Fairfield, carding a two-day 166 and finishing in a tie for 23rd place.

Kristen MacDonald shot 84 on Tuesday, to finish the tournament in 27th place with a two-day score of 167.  Christiana Destefano finished with a two-day 168 good for a 29th place tie.  She was eight strokes better on Tuesday, with a round of 80 and moved up 10 spots in the second round.  Caroline Hoey carded a 92 on Tuesday, two strokes better then her first round score, to finish 50th with a two-day 186.

The host Charleston Southern University won the event, played at the Par-71 Coosaw Creek Country Club in Charleston, S.C.  Hanna Coles of Radford and Olivia Higgins of Charleston Southern carded identical scores of 149 to share the individual crown.
