
Stags Announce 2010 Spring Golf Schedule

Fairfield University Director of Golf Len Roberto announced the Stags men's and women's 2010 spring schedules. The two squads will play in five tournaments apiece, culminating with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship in Orlando, Fla. in April.
"We have put together a very competitive schedule as we prepare for the conference championship," said Roberto. "I am looking forward to continuing the progress we made during the fall season and putting our best foot forward this spring."
The teams both open the spring portion of the slate at the Lonnie Barton Invitational March 8-9 in Savannah, Ga. The Stags will play the 36-hole tournament at Savannah Quarters Golf Course. The squad will continue their spring break trip March 12-14 at the St. James Plantation Collegiate. The three-round event will be played at St. James Plantation Golf Course in Southport, N.C.
The women will head south the following weekend, March 20-21 to play at the C&F Bank Women's Invitational. The College of William & Mary will host the 36-hole event at Ford's Colony Country Club in Williamsburg, Va. The final regular season tournament for the women's team will be in-state, April 12-13, at the Hartford Invitational. The two-round tournament is hosted by the University of Hartford and is played at Rockledge Golf Course.
The men will also play two tournaments during April, travelling to Providence, R.I., April 10-11 to play at the New England Division I Championships. The 36-hole championship will once again be played at Triggs Memorial Golf Course. The men wrap-up their regular season competition at the 26-hole Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational. The April 19-20 tournament is being played at Quail Valley Golf Course in Gettysburg, Pa.
The 2010 MAAC Championship will once again be held at the Celebration Golf Course in Orlando, Fla. The men finished in fourth place at the 2009 event, the team's best finish since 2004, while the women will welcome four new squads to its championship.
