MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Junior Allie Schick (North Kingstown, R.I.) shot a tournament-best 79 on Monday in the opening round of the Fairfield Spring Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Stags finished the day with a team total 346, tied with Albany for second-place while Long Island University led the field with a 338. All three teams played nine-holes in the second-round before play was suspended due to rain and per NCAA regulations, nine-hole rounds can not be counted. As a result, the first-round results will stand as the tournament final.
LIU's Veronica Lopes tied Schick for first-place while her teammate Shauna Wilde rounded out the top-three shooting an 81.
Stag freshman Liz McCabe (Wellesley, Mass.), junior Jess Doyle (Milton, Mass.) and sophomore Lindsey Ryan (Berlin, Conn.) tied for eighth-place, shooting an 89 while freshman Amy Bordonaro (Berlin, Conn.) shot a 96 to finish tied for 14th overall.
The Stags are back in action Saturday, April 3 as they travel to South Sandwich, Mass., to participate in the Boston College Invitational.
