The Fairfield University women's golf team took a two-stroke lead over the other teams after the first day of the Hofstra Women's Spring Invite. The Stags have all five players in the top 12, as they shot a team-total 346.
Courtney Richardson and Lynze Murphy both shot a first day 84, to play into a three-way tie for third place. Krista Duvall is close behind shooting 43-43 for her first round 86, and a sixth-place day one effort. Lindsay Ryan shot a first round 90 to move into eighth place, while Amy Brodonaro shot a 93 for 12th place after the first round.
The host, Hofstra, is second after the first day, shooting a team total 348, followed by Central Connecticut State, which shot a first round 391. Leah Steinmiller, CCSU, shot a 78 to take a commanding five stroke lead after the first round.
The event is being played at Harbor Links Golf Course, which is a Par-72 course, playing 5,991 yards in the first round.
Weather permitting, the second round is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday.
