WEST HARTFORD, CT. - Senior Jessica Doyle (Milton, Mass.) improved by 12 strokes today to card a team-high two-day total of 174 (+28) to lead the Fairfield University women's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the Hartford Invitational. The Stags shot a team-total 716 at the 13-team tournament which was played on the 5,872-yard, par 73 Wampanoag Golf Course.
Sophomore Liz McCabe (Wellesley, Mass.) shot rounds of 89 and 87 to finish two strokes bake of Doyle, who led the Stags at an invitational for the first time this season with her 18th place finish, taking 22nd overall with a 176 (+30).
Seniors Allie Schick (North Kingston, R.I.) and Jill Macari (Reading, Mass.) each shot a 183 (+37) to tie for 34th while sophomore Amy Bordonaro (Berlin, Conn.) rounded out the Stags with score of 210 (+64).
St. John's University won the tournament with a team total 668, by beating the second-place host Hartford Hawks by 24 strokes while Hofstra's Caitlin Munroe took medallist honors with a 164 (+18).
Fairfield is back in action April 23-24 as they travel to Orlando, Fla., to take part in the MAAC Championship at the Palms Golf Course.
