The Fairfield University women's golf team opened the 2007 Metro Atlantic Athletic Championship (MAAC) Tournament with a team first round total of 348. The event is being played at the Magnolia Golf Course at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.
Courtney Richardson led the Stags first day effort with a round of 83. In fourth place after the first round, she shot a 43 on the front nine and played three strokes better on the back. Liz McCabe is a stroke back of her teammate, in fifth place, after a first round 84. She shot a 40 on the front side.
Alicia Esposito, playing in her first conference championship, is in seventh place after the first round. She shot 44-46, for a round of 90. Lynze Murphy is in a tie for eighth place after the first day, shooting a 91. Krista Duval is in 10th after the first round, shooting 100 for her round.
The second round will be played on Saturday, with the champion being crowned on Sunday.
