The Fairfield University women's golf team opened the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship at the Magnolia Golf Course with a team round of 360. The par-72 course played 5,914 yards in the first round.
The Stags have three players tied for fifth place, having all shot rounds of 89 on Friday. Lindsey Ryan had the best nine holes on the front for the Stags shooting 42-47 on her way to an 89. Courtney Richardson shot 45-44 and Krista Duval shot 46-43 in the first round.
Lynze Murphy is in eighth place after the first day, shooting a round of 93. Amy Bordonaro is in 10th place after the first round with a round of 98.
The Stags are in second place, behind Siena.
The three-round event will continue through Sunday.
