NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's golf team finished fifth out of nine teams at the CCSU Invitational, at Stanley Golf Course. Fairfield turned in a one day score of 348 on Friday in the first round, but rain forced the cancellation of round two on Saturday.
Fairfield was led by Courtney Richardson who carded a first-round score of 85 (44-41) on Friday. Lindsey Ryan was second on the team, one shot behind Richardson with an 86 (46-40). Lynze Murphy was the third Fairfield player with an 88 (41-47).
Liz McCabe and Krista Duval tied for fourth on the team win an 89. McCabe posted a 44 on the front-nine, and a 45 on the back, while Duval fired a 49 on the front, and a solid 40 on the back-nine.
Brown won the team title with a team scored of 317, followed by Hartford (331), Central Connecticut (333). Boston University was fourth with a 338.
The Stags finished ahead of Sacred Heart (349), Mount Holyoke (352), Albany (353), and Laval (361).
Fairfield is back in action at the Hofstra Invitational, the weekend of October 14-15.
