BETHPAGE, N.Y. - Sophomore Liz McCabe (Wellesley, Mass.) and senior Jill Macari (Reading, Mass.) carded identical rounds of 81 and 84 to tie for sixth-place overall and lead the Fairfield University women's golf team to a fourth place finish at the Hofstra Fall Invitational this weekend. The seven-team tournament was played at the 6,206-yard, par-70 Bethpage Red Golf Course.

Siena College won the invitational with a team total 653, besting Wagner College by 10 strokes. Long Island University edged the Stags by three stokes as Fairfield shot a team total 669. LIU's Veronica Lopes won a playoff with the Saints Jillian Blanchard to take medallist honors with a 158 (+18).

Senior Allie Schick (North Kingstown, R.I.) finished just out of the top-10, taking 11th place with a two-day total of 168 (+28) while junior Jessica Doyle (Milton, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the Stags with a 176 (+36) to take 17th place. Junior Lindsey Ryan (Berlin, Conn.) finished 21st overall with rounds of 85 and 96.

The Stags play in their final fall tournament next weekend, Oct. 23 and Oct. 24, as they travel to Lewisburg, Pa., to participate in the Lady Bison Invitational at Bucknell.
