FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Fairfield University women's golf team finished in fourth-place with a two-day total of 687 in the 2003 Hofstra Invitational held on the blue course at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y.

St. Francis College took the team championship by 22 strokes with a 650 while Columbia University finished in second-place. Six strokes separated the next four teams as Long Island University edged out the Stags for third with a 686, while Boston University fell to fifth with a 688 and Hofstra finished in sixth with a 693. Wagner and Sacred Heart rounded out the field in seventh and eighth place, shooting a 699 and 819, respectively.

Individually, Columbia's Esther Gweon took medallist honors while Fairfield junior Allison Schick (North Kingston, R.I) improved by five-strokes on Saturday to led the Stags with a two-day total of 161 (+17) to take fifth-place.

Freshman Liz McCabe (Wellesley, Mass.) jumped out to a great start, shooting an 81 on Friday to finish with a two-day 168 (+24) to tie for 12th place.

Junior Jill Macari (Reading, Mass.) finished in the top-25, tying for 22nd place with a 175 (+31) while classmate Jessica Doyle (Canton, Mass.) tied for 28th overall, shooting a two-day total of 183 (+39).

Senior Colleen Travers (Arlington, Mass.) rounded out the field for the Stags with a 190 (+46) to take 33rd place.

The Hofstra Invitational was the final fall tournament for the Stags who will now break until the spring season.
