Kristen Coleman Named MAAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player Of The Week
Mar 10, 2008
Fairfield University freshman women’s lacrosse player
Kristen Coleman (Potomac, Md.) was named the Metro Atlantic
Athletic Conference (MAAC) Lacrosse League defensive player of the
week. It marks the second consecutive week with an award for
the Stags rookie.
Coleman, a graduate of Holy Cross High School, recorded five caused
turnovers in the Stags 15-5 win over Saint Mary’s (CA), a
quarter of the team’s total. She also picked up three
ground balls in the win. With arguably the best all around
week in the league as well, Coleman netted three goals and dished
out an assist on the offensive end of the field. The rookie
also had three draw controls to her credit.
The MAAC’s offensive player of the week last week, Coleman is
the Stags top offensive threat, with 10 goals and 11 total
points. She is seconds on the team in draw controls, with
six, and caused turnovers, also with six. Her six ground
balls is third on the team. The newcomer has taken 11 shots,
putting 94 percent of them on goal, and 62.5 percent into the
net.
Coleman has helped the Stags to a 2-1 start, and will lead the team
into its home opener this week. Fairfield will host Boston
College at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12 on Alumni Field.
