
Rigby, Madrak, Coleman Sweep MAAC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards

The Fairfield University women’s lacrosse team posted a
2-0 week, with wins over Boston College and Mount St. Mary’s,
and had three players rewarded with weekly awards from the Metro
Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) as a result. Erin Rigby
(Fair Haven, N.J.) was named the offensive player of the week,
Caroline Madrak (Berwyn, Pa.) earned defensive player of the week
honors, and Kristen Coleman (Potomac, Md.) was named the
league’s rookie of the week.
Fairfield earned its first-ever win over Boston College, of the
ACC, defeating the Eagles 14-12 at home on Wednesday. The
Stags then traveled to Mount St. Mary’s and earned a 13-9
victory. The Stags have won four straight games, and have the
program’s best start at 4-1.
Rigby, a graduate of Red Bank Catholic, scored nine points in the
two wins. She netted three goals in each game, and
effectively against Boston College, scoring the goals on just four
shots. She added three assists in the two wins as well, with
two against the Eagles. Rigby also picked up five draw
controls in the two wins.
Madrak, a graduate of Conestaga High School, provided the Stags a
defensive presence in the two wins. She averaged 2.5 caused
turnovers in the two games, as well as 4.5 ground balls per
game. In the win at The Mount, Madrak had a team-high four
caused turnovers and six ground balls.
Coleman, a Holy Cross High School graduate, earns her third MAAC
weekly honor in as many weeks as a collegiate player. She
finished the week with nine points, netting six goals and dishing
out three assists. In the win on the road, she scored all
four of her goals in the second half to break open a game that was
tied at 6-6. She tallied two goals and two assists in the
upset of Boston College. For the week she also had six draw
controls.
The Stags take to the field looking for a fifth straight win on
Wednesday, March 19, when they host Lehigh at 4 p.m. on Alumni
Field.
