Jun 2, 2009
Fairfield University's Rebecca White (Spring Lake, N.J.) has been selected to play in the annual IWLCA North-South All-Star game on Saturday, June 13. The game will be played at noon at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa.
"I am very happy for Rebecca," said Fairfield head coach Mike Waldvogel, "and she truly deserves to be included among the nation's top players. She has been an integral part of our program over the course of her career and this is a tremendous way for her to complete her collegiate career."
White had the best season of her career, earning Second Team All-Northeast Region accolades from the IWLCA, as well as being named First Team All-MAAC. She led the Stags with 66 goals, including five game-winning tallies, and finished with 77 total points, second on the team. She was named First Team All-MAAC and was selected as the most valuable player in the MAAC Tournament.
The most valuable player of the 2009 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Lacrosse League Championship, White is the second player in program history to be selected to play in the prestigious event. Mary Vallely '08 was chosen to participate last season, after earning her second consecutive MAAC Defensive Player of the Year award.
Fairfield posted a 17-3 record, tying the program record for wins in a season. The duo helped the Stags to their second consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) undefeated regular season, 6-0, and the program's second-ever MAAC Tournament Title. Fairfield then defeated Sacred Heart in an NCAA Play-in Game to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Stags gave fourth-seeded Penn all it could handle, before falling 10-8 in the first round as the Quakers advanced to the Final Four.
