Laura Field begins her second season as an assistant coach with the Fairfield University women's lacrosse program. Along with the day-to-day operations of the office, Field is responsible for the team's defense and goalkeeper development.
Field came to Fairfield after an eight-year stint with the Yale University women's lacrosse program. She served as the program's interim head coach for the 2008 season, helping the Bulldogs post an 11-5 overall record and a final national ranking of 17th.
Over seven seasons as an assistant coach at Yale, Field helped the program to a final top-20 national ranking six times, including a seventh place ranking following the 2003 season. That year, Yale posted a 13-3 mark and captured the Ivy League title, advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.
NCAA Tournament experience is nothing new to Field, who earned four varsity letters as a member of the Princeton University lacrosse program. As the starting goalkeeper for the Tigers, Field led the squad to the 2000 National Title game, a berth in the quarterfinals in 1999, and a tournament appearance in 1998. Field was named First Team All-Ivy in 1997 and was selected to the North-South Senior All-Star game in 2000.
A native of Mystic, Conn., Field currently resides in New Haven,
Conn.
